 It was a very hot day today--in the upper 90's! Darin took Gavin & Ellie to a movie (Pirates! Band of Misfits) while Greyson napped & I worked on my Relief Society lesson for tomorrow. We ended the day at Carl's Jr. which has a big play place, & we couldn't stop laughing at the crazy (& very fingerprinty) fun house mirror! Greyson was enjoying some walking practice in on the soft mat floor.

 We've officially started packing... and we started going through Gavin's box of school papers from his Kindergarten year to decide what to keep, what to photograph & what to toss. Notice Ellie's photo-bombing dinosaur? She has really been into playing with them lately!

After a trip to Walmart, Gavin helped make his own cupcake toppers for his Chuck E. Cheese "party" with a few friends. It was a nice day to go there--not too busy!

 A recent discovery at the park: "The Jungle Tree," so named by the neighborhood kids. It's a tall pine tree with tons of good climbing branches on the inside. They played in it for a couple hours today!

This was one of Gavin's birthday presents... something he'd picked out a couple weeks ago at DI for $2.00! But when he opened it up on his birthday, we discovered that it was missing the marbles. After reassuring Gavin that we shouldn't "take it back," we picked up a pack of 50 marbles at Walmart, only to discover that only 2 out of 50 were small enough to roll through the bridges! Who knew?!!

 Gavin was working on his new Lego motorcycle, so Ellie pulled out this puzzle & we did it together. She's getting good at separating the ones with straight edges from the middle pieces! Later, we went to the park with our friends across the street (on one of the hottest days of the year so far) & Gavin got to go for a snowcone after with his good friend, Livia.

We went to see "The Reptile Guy" at the library. It was a great show! Gavin & Ellie sat up front & loved it. We saw a snapping turtle, several lizards, snakes & even a tarantula. This was the only time the guy sat at the table. Mostly, he was up walking around showing & talking about the reptiles... very entertaining... but I was ok being in the back of the room with Greyson.

 Happy Birthday Gavin! Six years old today. He had requested breakfast in bed--Lucky Charms & gummies. We actually woke him up at 9am, singing "Happy Birthday" & served him in his bed on the floor in Ellie's room. Grandma made her legendary fudge frosting for Gavin's cherry chip birthday cupcakes, then we met Darin for lunch at Souper Salad (Gavin's choice) with Grandma & Grandpa before they headed out of town (but not before Grandma took Gavin into Target & let him pick out a present... he chose Legos (what a surprise)! When Darin came home from work, Gavin opened one present (golf clubs!), then we were off to Planet Kid--first time ever. The kids all had fun! Back home, Gavin opened  a few more presents, then we had his requested dinner of corn dogs & watermelon. After baths, it was nearly 10pm. We tucked Greyson & Ellie in bed, & Gavin finally got to blow out his candles & have some birthday cake! He's a pretty awesome six-year-old. We love him!

Today was a busy fun day, but not a lot of pictures to show for it! Mom & Dad watched the kids during my Presidency meeting in the morning, then we had lunch in the park. We watched a movie, Grandpa pitched balls to Gavin for some batting practice, & we had BBQ chicken & beans, watermelon, pineapple, cherries (given to us from our neighbor's tree) & sweet potato tots for dinner, then I went to a RS activity while everyone else hung out & watched the College Baseball World Series. After Ellie & Greyson were tucked in, we enjoyed a late night game of Mexican Train Dominos. Gavin is quite the player!

 Grandma & Grandpa Gibson came up for a visit (since they were already in SLC area visiting the Williams & then Grandpa on Father's Day). We're glad they came! After dinner we took them to see where our new house is (we're moving in a couple weeks!) & met this herd of grumpy geese.

 After a pretty good night's sleep, Darin headed out at 6am to do a little fishing while the rest of us cuddled in the heated bed until he came back. Then we headed into the nearby town of Stanley & had a pancake & french toast brunch, then to the Sawtooth fish hatchery where they raise Chinook Salmon (read below). Pretty crazy--they say less than 1% of the salmon they release come back to the hatchery to spawn. After that, lots & lots of fishing until we wore these guys out! We had chili for dinner, right outside our teepee, & s'mores for dessert! Heading back home tomorrow morning.
