Trying something new... on Leap Day! We've been doing Taekwondo just about every day too since it started last week. Gavin is really liking it & doing well! Today he was one of the leaders in warm ups & did it like a pro! Hiyyyya!!!

I recreated this comparison photo shoot with Greyson... except I couldn't get his feet to fit all the way into the boots, so he couldn't do the standing pose. :( It was a beautiful day today--in the 50's. We got in a trip to the park (Greyson's first time in the swings) & went to Art Fair at Gavin's school tonight. Wish Darin had been here for that! One more week...

Today was Gavin's 100th day of school! They had a celebration which involved all kinds of activities, plus they got to wear pajamas to school (not sure how that fit in to the theme, but oh well!).

Greyson's such a sweetheart. He still goes wherever he wants by rolling & doing the low crawl. There's plenty to explore, so Gavin has been good about keeping tiny toys picked up & off the floor.

I finally tackled our mending pile. I had 4 pair of Gavin's jeans with holes in the knees (one pair he'd way grown out of lengthwise, but the other 3 could be salvaged to last through the school year). I made these knee pads with a double layer of cotton from an old t shirt, based on these from Dana Willard's site, but I made the knee pads first, then sewed them onto the jeans by hand, because the pant legs would not fit onto the machine. They turned out pretty cute, I think!

This was Gavin's idea... Who doesn't enjoy a good swaddle? In other news, Ellie was down to 2 pacifiers, & last week, we could not find either one (no matter how hard we searched!)... after several screaming-like-an-addict-in-withdrawal, drawn out bedtimes, Ellie found a paci--in the toy box. I bravely snipped it during the day, so if she asked for it at bedtime, regression would not be an option. Yes, that means there is still a lone paci somewhere in the house, but I think we're out of the woods now.

Got our cookies decorated today :) .... and Darin left for China before the sun came up. :(
We also woke up to a surprise blanket of snow covering the ground. By noon, I finally shoveled our driveway since, although it had melted off the road AND the neighbors' south-facing driveways across the street, our side of the street gets no sun. You can see Darin's footprints & suitcase tracks down to the curb, where our wonderful home teacher picked him up, as he's done for the last several trips.

We went to Gavin's class Valentines party this afternoon, dinner at Cafe Rio for their yummy $1.50 tacos & made some sugar cookies tonight while Darin packed for his trip to China in the morning. Greyson also discovered he can move on the wood floor much faster than on carpet... he pulls himself around pretty efficiently! Coincidentally, I just Sharked the floor yesterday... good thing!

Darin brought me an early Valentine's Day present on his lunch break today... 6 fancy cupcakes from a new place down the street called Sugar Rush (Andes Mint, Cookies & Cream, Orange Dreamsicle, Samoa, Almond Joy & Mexican chocolate)! He also gave me specific instructions that they were just for me--not to be shared with the kids! I figured I didn't need 6 to myself, so I broke out the Orange Dreamsicle first & was willing to share, but Ellie didn't even want a bite!

Greyson thinks he's hot stuff now that he can get around. It's all very exciting! Although sometimes he gets into some sticky situations... We got a babysitter tonight for Gavin & Ellie, & Darin took me & Greyson to the movies for an early Valentines date! We saw The Vow (my choice) & liked it a lot... we hadn't been to a non-kids movie together in quite a looooong time!

We discovered tonight that Greyson has the beginnings of two teeth on the bottom! We were at the Cub Scout Blue & Gold banquet, & Greyson looked like he was chewing on something... I put my finger in his mouth to see what he had, & it was just his own two teeth!
